Undertrial Prisoner Dies by Alleged Suicide in Nalbari Jail

A 47-year-old inmate, Shukra Kamar alias Lodha Kamar, allegedly died by suicide inside Nalbari District Jail on Thursday.

According to reports, he allegedly used a Gamosa to take his own life. Kamar had been lodged in jail since 2011 in connection with a murder case that was still under trial.

Family members said he was expected to be released within the next one or two months and appeared normal during recent visits. The body has been sent for post-mortem, while police are expected to investigate the incident further.
