Alleged Criminal Injured in Police Shootout in Lakhipur

In Lakhipur, Assam’s Cachar district, an alleged criminal named Jamir Uddin sustained bullet wounds to his leg during a police encounter on Tuesday night. Uddin, accused in an attempted rape case, was being escorted to the purported crime scene to recover the weapon allegedly used. He attempted to flee, prompting police to use force, resulting in his injury. Currently hospitalized at Silchar Medical College, Uddin faces charges related to the kidnap and attempted rape of a woman, alongside four other accomplices, on March 16.
