Alleged Espionage Mastermind: Assam Police Arrests Manas Chaliha in Connection with ULFA (I) Spy Mission

In a significant development, Assam Police has apprehended Manas Chaliha, accused of orchestrating a mission involving young individuals to spy on the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) (ULFA-I). Three videos featuring Manas Borgohain, a young man recruited into the banned outfit, surfaced, implicating Chaliha as the mastermind. Chaliha, allegedly a former zonal head of the police’s Special Branch, refuted the claims, asserting his innocence as an organic farmer. However, reports of past fraudulent activities have emerged. The ULFA (I) released a letter questioning the lack of action against Chaliha, while the Assam Police denied Borgohain being a police spy and asserted Chaliha’s lack of connection to the administration.
