Amit Shah Assures UCC Exemption for Adivasis, Targets Congress in Assam Campaign

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Assam will not apply to Adivasi communities, stressing protection of tribal traditions during election rallies.

Addressing gatherings in Dudhnoi and Palasbari, Shah reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to bring UCC with careful consideration, while expressing confidence that Assam will support Narendra Modi again for continued development.

He strongly criticised Indian National Congress, accusing it of enabling infiltration and obstructing key projects like IIM Palasbari. Shah said the BJP will continue action against illegal infiltrators.

Highlighting welfare plans, he promised increased financial support to farmers, dairy infrastructure in every district, and livestock support for tribal families. He also announced subsidies for tractors and power tillers, along with plans to boost rural markets.

Shah’s rally in Golakganj was cancelled due to a helicopter issue, but he addressed supporters over the phone. He is on a two-day visit to campaign ahead of the April 9 Assembly elections.
