Six-Year-Old Girl Killed on Moving Train in Assam, Father Arrested

A six-year-old girl, Sumi Murmu, was allegedly killed inside a moving train in Assam’s Lakhimpur district on Friday morning, causing panic among passengers.

The incident occurred around 9:15 am in a general coach of the Dekargaon–Murkongselek Express near Silonibari station. Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel quickly reached the spot and arrested the girl’s father, Sunil Murmu.

Eyewitness statements have been recorded, and the body has been taken for further procedures. The motive and weapon used in the crime remain unclear.

The accused, reportedly not in a stable mental state, denied involvement and claimed that someone else on the train was responsible. Authorities are investigating all possible angles.
