An attempt is made to set BJP leaders’ homes on fire as Imphal mobs clash with security personnel.

On June 16, a mob of 1,000 people attempted to set a fire to a building in Imphal’s Palace Compound. The Rapid Action Force (RAF) responded by firing rubber bullets and tear gas at the group, injuring at least two civilians. Another mob of about 300 people that attempted to vandalise Minister Thongam Biswajit’s residence in Thongju late at night was dispersed by the RAF.

Later, flag marches were held in the Imphal East district by joint columns of the Army, Assam Rifles, RAF, and police.
