Ancient Artefacts Unearthed at Gupteshwar Temple, Sparking Archaeological Interest

Approximately 12 kilometers south of Dhekiajuli town in Sonitpur district, historical stone artefacts have been discovered at the Gupteshwar temple in Singri. This excavation, initiated in November 2023, has uncovered statues of Nandi and Hanuman, along with numerous rocks beneath the former namghar site.

The findings have attracted researchers, students, and teachers statewide, eager to study the recovered materials. The excavation, conducted by the Assam Department of Tourism and the temple management committee, aims to enhance the temple’s status as a tourist destination.
