APCC Demands CBI Probe into Alleged Garukhuti Project Scam

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has demanded a CBI inquiry into alleged corruption in the Garukhuti Multipurpose Agriculture Project. Congress leader Ram Prasad Sarmah claimed massive misuse of ₹25 crore public funds, alleging a mismatch in statements by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and project head Padma Hazarika. He said the project failed to deliver promised benefits like milk and crop production. APCC also flagged irregularities in procuring 300 Gir cows from Gujarat, questioning NDDB’s role and the mysterious distribution of cows to BJP leaders. A Congress team was blocked from visiting the site.
