Assam Begins Scrutiny of 25,000+ School Provincialisation Applications

Dispur: The Assam Government has started scrutinising over 25,000 applications received for the provincialisation of schools and teachers under the Assam Education (Provincialisation of Services of Teachers and Reorganisation of Educational Institutions) Amendment Act, 2025, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu informed the Assembly during the Budget Session.

The Minister said the applications are being verified to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria. He also announced that an Adarsh School will be established in every Assembly constituency, with 58 schools already set up.

Responding to concerns over teacher shortages and pending appointments, Pegu said recruitment would continue after new unified service rules are finalised and court-related issues are resolved. He added that around 15,000 applications under the proposed Guru Dakshina Scheme are also being verified for eligible “drop teachers.”
