Assam Cabinet Approves Key Projects for Railway Expansion and Education Sector
The Assam cabinet approved multiple projects, including the doubling of railway tracks in the Azara-Kamakhya section and a Rs 150 crore fund for three new polytechnic institutes.
Eight bighas of government land were allocated for the railway track expansion to improve connectivity in southern Guwahati.
The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 150 crore for polytechnics in Hajo, Majuli, and Tingkhong to strengthen technical education.
In the education sector, 451 part-time faculty positions were approved, and 131 teachers’ appointments made by the KAAC were regularized. Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah urged future appointments to follow due procedure.
