Assam CM Sarma Rebukes Congress Allegations on Democracy

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has strongly criticized the Congress party, dismissing recent allegations regarding the state of democracy in India. Sarma, addressing claims of democracy being under threat, rebuked the Congress, pointing out their historical imposition of emergency measures. Speaking during an election campaign in Tezpur, Sarma highlighted controversial events from the past, including Operation Blue Star and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, questioning the safety of India under former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s leadership. He asserted that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi can safeguard democracy in the country.
