Assam Congress Proposes New Land Policy Ahead of Assembly Session

The Assam Congress plans to introduce a new land policy as a private member’s Bill in the upcoming State Assembly session, APCC President Bhupen Borah announced. Developed through consultations with legal experts and social workers, the policy aims to address land issues and evictions across Assam.

Borah emphasized that the policy is for the people of Assam, not just the Congress. Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia criticized the BJP government for land law violations and selective evictions, stressing the need to protect local residents’ land rights.
