Assam Faces Rainfall Deficit; IMD Warns of Intense Summer Ahead

Assam saw a 26% rainfall deficit in March, with eastern districts receiving excess rain while western and southern regions remained dry. Dhemaji recorded 100% excess rainfall, while Goalpara and Nagaon had over 90% deficiency. Guwahati saw 74% less rainfall, with temperatures rising above 35°C.

IMD predicts a hotter-than-usual summer from April to June, with 2-4 extra heatwave days in central, eastern, and northwestern India. States like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha may see 10+ heatwave days. The government has urged states to prepare for heat-related health issues.
