Assam Government to Establish School Standard Authority for Education Quality

The Assam government has announced plans to create a State School Standard Authority (SSSA) to enhance education quality. The SSSA will inspect and grade schools based on specific criteria, helping identify areas needing improvement. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu also introduced the School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (SQAAF) under the SSSA, modeled after the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) used in higher education. Additionally, a new school rulebook will guide the SQAAF’s operations. Pegu confirmed the blueprint for merging SEBA and AHSEC into the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) will be made public by September 13.
