Assam Government to Formulate Roadmap for Assam Accord Implementation
The Assam government plans to create a comprehensive roadmap for implementing all clauses of the Assam Accord within the next three months, as announced by Cabinet Minister Atul Bora in the Assam Assembly. The roadmap, supported by the Union Home Ministry, aims to address legal and constitutional challenges, especially concerning Clause 6 of the Accord. Bora also revealed that 30,113 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have been deported since the Accord’s signing, while border security issues remain unresolved. The Opposition criticized the government’s lack of detail and demanded the resumption of the NRC process.
