Assam Info Commission Directs APSC to Maintain Candidate Education Records

The Assam Information Commission has advised the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) to keep records of educational background and medium of instruction of candidates selected through APSC exams. The directive came while hearing a petition by Kailash Chandra Sarma, who sought details under RTI regarding candidates’ schooling boards (CBSE/SEBA) and vernacular medium status in the 2022 APSC CCE. APSC stated that such data was not recorded, though candidate forms include schooling details. The Commission instructed APSC to provide available information and respond as per RTI norms, but denied the petitioner’s request to inspect candidates’ documents.
