Assam Police Crack Down on Cyber-Criminals Using Fake Credit Cards and IDs
Assam Police have arrested four individuals involved in scams using Axis Bank credit cards to defraud civilians. The criminals obtained PAN numbers through a fraudulent website, created fake Aadhaar and PAN cards using forged documents and Chinese editing apps, and convinced victims to take loans.
The investigation, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Samiran Baishya, follows a major bust on May 15, where Assam Police arrested 14 individuals across the state for similar cyber-crimes. During the operation, police seized 362 SIM cards, 11 PAN cards, 50 bank passbooks, 25 ATM cards, three laptops, and 34 mobile phones.
Over the past year and a half, Morigaon Police have arrested over 200 cyber-criminals and seized more than 8,000 SIM cards, showcasing Assam Police’s dedication to combating cyber-crime and protecting citizens from online threats.
