Assam Power Minister Denies Reports of Electricity Tariff Hike

Assam’s Power Minister, Prasanta Phukan, dismissed rumors of a potential electricity tariff hike, stating he had no knowledge of such plans. Earlier reports suggesting a tariff increase by April 1 were contradicted by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s New Year announcement of a tariff reduction due to APDCL’s profits. Phukan highlighted initiatives like the Lower Kopili Project and solar energy developments, with Rs 600 crore allocated for electricity projects.
