Assam prisoner receives gold medal for topping PG exam

An undertrial prisoner in Guwahati central jail, who was allegedly involved in a grenade blast in Guwahati at the behest of ULFA in 2019, has topped the PG examination under the state open university and was awarded a gold medal by the varsity’s chancellor and Assam governor at a convocation.

Sanjib Talukdar, 29, a former student leader of Assam, was arrested along with three others in connection with the blast that had left 12 injured in 2019.

In the same year, the case was transferred to NIA, which charged Sanjib with conspiracy, unlawful activities and providing help and support to the main accused in the case.
