Assam State Cabinet Approves Tourism and Mising Autonomous Council Bills for Development and Governance

The Assam State Cabinet has given approval to the Assam Tourism (Development and Registration) Bill, 2024, aiming to revitalize and promote the tourism industry. The bill focuses on fostering economic growth, developing tourism infrastructure, and ensuring responsible and sustainable tourism, while safeguarding the state’s cultural and natural heritage. Additionally, the Cabinet endorsed the Mising Autonomous Council (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which aims to enhance the general council’s strength by removing the provision of village council, while maintaining the existing ratio of Scheduled Tribe (ST) representation. Both bills will be presented in the upcoming budget session of the Assembly. Furthermore, the Cabinet emphasized the transfer of urban public water supply schemes from the Public Health Engineering Department to urban local bodies, ensuring proper maintenance and operation, particularly in municipalities.
