Assam Teachers’ Association will hold a number of agitations in State

Sadou Asom Prathamik TET Utrinno Shishak Samaj has threatened to stage agitations if the government does not act decisively by January 26 to regularise the positions of the contractual teachers with pay security.

President Trailokya Deka and Secretary Kulajit Thakuria stated in a press conference, “The government had set conditions for the appointment of fresh teachers for regularization. So, this condition of recruiting new appointees for the contractual teachers is not acceptable. In this regard, a congregation was held in demand to rethink and discuss this condition at Lokhra on December 22. In the congregation, the association took a pledge demanding to regularize the posts of the contractual teachers with pay security and appealed to the chief minister and the education minister to take the necessary steps in solving the same. But even after around 15 days of the congregation, there have been no positive steps from the government. A central executive meeting was held on January 2 and a steering committee meeting on January 5, where they discussed that they would stage a series of agitations along with certain resolutions.”
