Assam to Get First ESIC Medical College in Beltola

The Centre has approved the establishment of Assam’s first Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical college in Beltola, Guwahati. The announcement was made by Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, on October 8 during the 194th ESI Corporation meeting in New Delhi.

In addition to Beltola, nine other locations across India, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, will also see the creation of new ESIC medical colleges. This move aligns with the Prime Minister’s goal of adding 75,000 medical seats over the next five years.

The corporation also made decisions to strengthen ESIC’s infrastructure, such as acquiring land for new dispensaries and offices in Dhubri. The “Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna” was extended until June 2026 to provide unemployment allowances for insured workers.

Furthermore, ESIC beneficiaries will now have access to medical care at empanelled hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat – PMJAY scheme nationwide.
