Assamese Writers Honored with Sahitya Akademi Translation Awards

Three writers from Assam were bestowed with Sahitya Akademi Awards for translations in 2023. The awards, announced for 24 Indian languages, include a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and a copper plaque for each recipient. Lakkshajyoti Gogoi Handique received the award for Assamese translation of ‘Mor Jivonto’, Ambikagiri Hajowary for Bodo translation of ‘Santanufwlerni Fisajla’, and Chhatraman Subba for Nepali translation of ‘Kayakalpa’. These honors highlight the literary contributions of Assamese writers to the field of translation.
