Tragedy Strikes: Boat Accident Claims Lives on Brahmaputra

A devastating boat accident on the Brahmaputra River near the Indo-Bangla border in Hatshingimari, Assam, has left a community in mourning. The accident, which occurred around 5 pm local time, involved a small engine-powered boat carrying eighteen passengers, including children. Despite rescue efforts, the boat capsized in turbulent waters and fierce storms, resulting in three passengers, including children, reported missing. Amidst the tragedy, one child was retrieved but succumbed to the ordeal. Search and rescue operations, hindered by nightfall and adverse weather, have intensified with the mobilization of the State and National Disaster Response Forces. As the community grapples with shock and sorrow, hopes remain for the safe recovery of those still missing.
