BJP Forms Committee for Bye-Polls in Five Assam Assembly Constituencies

The BJP has established a committee for the upcoming bye-polls in five Assam assembly constituencies left vacant by the election of five MLAs to the Parliament. Diplu Ranjan Sarma will serve as the convener, with separate members assigned to each constituency.

• Sidli LAC: MLA Ajay Rai, BTR executive member Rajib Brahma, and Bhibuti Borgoyari.
• Bongaigaon LAC: Ashwini Rai Sarkar, Bondip Deka, and BTR EM Arup Dey.
• Samaguri LAC: MLA Jitu Goswami, Anil Saikia, and Mohendra Konwar.
• Dhalai LAC: MLA Kaushik Roy, Kanad Purkayastha, and Shashanka Paul.
• Behali LAC: MLAs Bhuban Pegu, Diganta Kalita, and Dulen Nayak.

The vacancies arose from the election of:

• Joyanta Basumatary (Sidli LAC) as MP from Kokrajhar.
• Phani Bhushan Choudhury (Bongaigaon LAC) as MP from Barpeta.
• Rakibul Hussain (Samaguri LAC) as MP from Dhubri.
• Parimal Suklabaidya (Dhalai LAC) as MP from Silchar.
• Ranjit Dutta (Behali LAC) as MP from Sonitpur.
