Body Found in Barak River Raises Fears of Manipur Violence Spillover

A 25-year-old woman’s body was recovered from Assam’s Barak River, raising the week’s death toll to six. Identified as Laishram Heitombi Devi, the body was discovered by fishermen in Lakhipur on Monday.

Recent recoveries, including those of a woman and a child, have heightened concerns about possible links to the ethnic violence in neighboring Manipur. Although no direct connection has been confirmed, the timing has raised suspicions amid the ongoing unrest in Manipur.

Residents and leaders are urging thorough investigations as fears of cross-border violence escalate. Authorities are continuing their probe into the incidents.
