Bongaigaon ASI Detained on Graft Charges and Misconduct

In a surprising turn of events, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Biplab Kumar Das of the Bongaigaon police was detained on graft charges, according to reports on Sunday. Das, stationed at the Kajalgaon police outpost in Manikpur, allegedly forcibly entered the residence of Ranjit Nath in Patiladaha on Saturday evening and fired three shots. Ranjit Nath’s son, Jyotish Nath, subsequently lodged a formal complaint. This morning, police apprehended Das from his residence in Sarbhog, where he was found in possession of a pistol.
