Supreme Court Reserves Order on Pawan Khera’s Bail Plea

The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its verdict on Congress leader Pawan Khera’s anticipatory bail plea in a case linked to allegations against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife.
Khera argued that arrest was unnecessary and claimed the allegations should be examined during trial. The Assam government opposed the plea, alleging he circulated fake and doctored passport documents.
Khera had challenged the Gauhati High Court’s earlier decision rejecting his anticipatory bail request. Cases were filed by Riniki Bhuyan Sharma at the Guwahati Crime Branch police station under various BNS sections.
