Brutal Killing in Assam: Woman Murdered on Suspected Witchcraft, Police Launch Investigation

In a horrifying incident in Assam’s Kokrajhar district, unidentified miscreants killed a woman, Maino Hadsa, during the late hours of Tuesday. The assailants, suspected to have targeted her on suspicion of practicing witchcraft, reportedly slit her throat with a sharp weapon while she was asleep in her bedroom at Mohkuma in Gossaigaon. The discovery was made by her son on Wednesday morning when repeated calls went unanswered, leading to the shocking revelation of his mother’s lifeless body covered in blood. Villagers were immediately informed, and the police, upon reaching the scene, initiated an investigation into the gruesome murder. The possibility of the crime being motivated by superstitions surrounding witchcraft is being explored. The victim’s body has been sent for a postmortem examination in Kokrajhar.
