BSF Foils Smuggling of Foreign Currency at Indo-Bangladesh Border
BSF troops from Guwahati Frontier thwarted a smuggling attempt at the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district. They seized 100,000 Bangladeshi Taka and $103,800 USD, valued at nearly ₹89 lakh.
In a related incident in Assam’s Dhubri district, two men were arrested for possessing counterfeit Indian currency notes and materials used for forging money. Last month, a joint operation in Hailakandi district led to the seizure of ₹1.05 lakh in fake notes and the arrest of a suspect.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover broader networks involved in these activities.
