CID Summons Congress Leaders, Including Rahul Gandhi, in Connection with Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Incident

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Assam has issued summons to several Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Gaurav Gogoi, following the conclusion of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra (BJNY) in the state. The leaders, including KC Venugopal, Jitendra Singh, Bhupen Borah, Debabrata Saikia, Zakir Hussain Sikdar, and Ramen Kumar Sharma, are directed to appear at the CID office in Guwahati on February 23, 2024. The summons, issued under Section 41A of CrPC, pertains to an FIR registered at Police Station Basistha, involving charges under various sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984. The leaders are requested to provide information and clarify their involvement in the investigation.
