CJP Demands CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s Resignation, Warns of Nationwide Protest

New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has demanded that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resign within 48 hours, alleging irregularities in the electoral process and raising concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The party warned of nationwide protests if its demand is not met.

The CJP also called for a pause on upcoming elections and the SIR exercise, restoration of the January 2025 voter list and repeal of the 2023 law governing the appointment of Election Commissioners. The demands come amid reports of differing views within the Election Commission over aspects of the SIR process; the commission has described differences of opinion among its members as part of its normal decision-making process.
