CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Distributes Land Titles to 4,673 Tribal Families in Kamrup

As part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada celebrations, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed land title certificates to 4,673 indigenous tribal families in Chaygaon, Kamrup district, under the Forest Rights Act, 2006.
Sarma said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to securing land rights for tribal communities and coincides with celebrations of Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary.
Addressing the media, he reaffirmed the state’s “zero-tolerance” policy against illegal encroachments, warning that evictions from forest and government lands will continue.
The Chief Minister also stated that Assam’s report on ST status for six communities will be submitted by November 25 and confirmed ongoing talks with the Centre over the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council’s demand for Sixth Schedule inclusion.
