Congress Accuses Assam BJP Government of Economic and Social Failures
Senior Congress leader Ripun Bora criticized the BJP-led Assam government for economic downturns, poor healthcare, and law enforcement failures. He highlighted Assam’s low per capita income, ranking 31st among states, with widespread poverty. Bora noted high infant and maternal mortality rates and a collapsing healthcare system. He accused the government of failing in education, with Assam recording the highest school dropout rates. He also mentioned rising unemployment, increased state debt, and unfulfilled GST and flood relief claims. Bora alleged “stepmotherly treatment” from the central government and demanded accountability from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
