Crackdown Urged on Fake Paramedical Institutes in Udalguri

Udalguri district faces a surge of non-recognized paramedical institutions exploiting aspiring students. A dean from the Assam Paramedical and Nursing Academy (APNA) in Tangla was arrested for allegedly defrauding students by claiming false affiliations. The issue came to light when the institute failed to provide practical training and certificates.

Three unrecognized paramedical institutes operate in Tangla, falsely claiming affiliations. These institutes lack proper infrastructure and faculty but offer various courses like medical laboratory technician and nursing assistant.

The Assam government has mandated that all paramedical institutions must affiliate with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS) from 2023-2024, with admissions via a common entrance exam. However, lack of enforcement has allowed these fake institutes to continue operating. Citizens and student organizations urge the Udalguri administration to take action and ensure regulatory compliance to protect students’ futures.
