Debabrata Saikia Seeks Probe into Arson and Alleged Evidence Destruction in Karbi Anglong

Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia has demanded an inquiry into the arson of Tuliram Ronghang’s house in Karbi Anglong and alleged destruction of evidence.
In a letter to Narendra Modi, Saikia said the incident occurred on December 22 amid protests over PGR/VGR land, leading to clashes, curfew, and heavy police deployment. He alleged that Ronghang’s house was demolished with a bulldozer soon after the fire, without forensic examination or judicial orders, raising suspicion of evidence tampering.
Saikia called for an immediate judicial or magistrate-level probe into the arson, the demolition of the house, and the role of the administration, citing concerns over rule of law, corruption allegations, and protection of Sixth Schedule areas.
