Discussion Between Assam Govt and AASU on Clause 6 Postponed Due to Election Code

The Assam government’s meeting with the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on the implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, set for October 25, has been postponed due to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for by-elections.

In a letter to AASU leaders, the government confirmed the meeting will be rescheduled after the by-polls. The postponement follows a previous meeting on September 25, where Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma discussed implementing 40 state-level recommendations by April 2025 and initiating talks with the Centre on 16 central-level recommendations.
