Elderly Woman Found Dead in Guwahati, Son Under Investigation

In a tragic incident, the skeletal remains of an elderly woman, Purnima Devi, were discovered in her home in Jyotikuchi, Guwahati. Locals claim her son, Joydeep Dey, was not mentally ill prior to his father’s death, after which he became isolated and prevented his mother from interacting with neighbors. Five days before the discovery, Dey reportedly told a neighbor that his mother was sleeping. Concerned relatives contacted the police when Dey denied them entry to the home. The police forced open the door, revealing the remains that had reportedly been there for several days. Investigators from the CID and a forensic team are looking into the circumstances of her death.
