Emergency Mobile Alert System Now Operational Across Assam

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has announced that the Cell Broadcast System (CBS), India’s advanced emergency warning system, is now fully operational across Assam.

The system allows authorities to send instant, location-specific disaster alerts directly to mobile phones during emergencies such as floods, cyclones, heavy rain, lightning, and gas leaks. Alerts will appear as pop-up messages accompanied by a loud alarm and vibration.

ASDMA has urged citizens not to panic upon receiving such alerts, as they are official warnings issued only by authorized government agencies. The system works across 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks and remains effective even during network congestion.
