EVM–VVPAT First-Level Checking Begins in Dhubri, Silchar

As part of preparations for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, first-level checking (FLC) of EVMs and VVPATs has begun in Dhubri and Silchar in line with Election Commission of India guidelines. The process is being conducted from December 11 to 23 at designated warehouses under strict security and supervision. In Dhubri, over 1,900 ballot units and more than 2,000 control units and VVPATs are undergoing technical verification by authorised ECIL engineers. Mock polls will be held on a sample of verified machines, with representatives of recognised political parties present to ensure transparency.
