Five Detained After Bhangarpar Bridge Collapse in Cachar

Five people were detained and three police personnel were closed to reserve lines after the newly repaired Bhangarpar bridge on the Silchar-Kalain highway collapsed. The bridge caved in under two overloaded trucks, disrupting links to Tripura and Mizoram. A Bailey bridge will be built within 10 days, while a temporary diversion allows light vehicles. FIRs have been filed; an inquiry is ongoing.
