Former Darrang SP Dismissed for Bribery in Rape Case

The former Superintendent of Police (SP) in Darrang, Assam, who was found guilty of taking a bribe to protect a Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Jawan accused of raping and murdering a 13-year-old girl in 2022, has been dismissed from service. Assam’s Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh announced the penalty of dismissal on April 1st, 2024, as part of the state police’s zero-tolerance policy towards malpractices.
