Gauhati HC Orders Halt on Construction in Deepor Beel

The Gauhati High Court has ordered the Assam government to remove earth filling and stop construction near Deepor Beel. The PWD informed the court that the project near Dharapur Tiniali has been canceled and assured the removal of temporary earth filling within 6-8 weeks. The court directed PWD to submit an affidavit confirming the removal before the next hearing. The case was based on a PIL filed by Pramod Kalita in 2023.
