Gaurav Gogoi Demands CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s Removal, Questions SIT Probe into Zubeen Garg’s Death

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Friday accused the Election Commission of India of losing its constitutional independence and demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He alleged that the poll body was acting in the interests of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Gogoi also announced that the INDIA bloc planned to hold a mock Parliament on October 28 as part of its ongoing “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” campaign.

Separately, Gogoi criticised the Assam government over the investigation into singer Zubeen Garg’s death, alleging that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had failed to present all the facts and evidence before the court. He also questioned the granting of bail to several accused and expressed concerns over whether the investigation would deliver justice. These remarks reflect Gogoi’s allegations, while the legal proceedings remain subject to the court’s assessment.
