Gunman shot and wounded 2 policemen in Istanbul
Two policemen were shot and wounded by a fugitive during routine identification checks in a crowded district of Istanbul, according to a statement by the Istanbul governorate.
The incident happened in the Fatih district where two suspects were stopped by the police officers and asked for identification, said the statement.
The 32-year-old assailant, identified as G.G., then opened fire at the police officers, it adds.
The wounded police officers were taken to the nearest hospital, and one was in critical condition, according to the Demiroren news agency.
