Guwahati Hosts Its First-Ever Test Match, Marking Historic Moment for Assam

Guwahati will host its first Test match on November 22 at the ACA Stadium, making it India’s 30th Test venue and the first in the Northeast. India will play South Africa in the second Test of the series after losing the first match in Kolkata.
The match will start at 9 am due to early sunrise, making it the first Test to reverse lunch and tea timings for daylight reasons.
Former Assam players, including Bimal Bharali, Naba Konwar and Munna Kakati, called the occasion a dream come true, saying they never imagined Guwahati would host a Test during their playing days. Young fans, too, expressed excitement about witnessing red-ball cricket live.
The Test marks a major milestone in Assam’s cricketing journey, long awaited by generations.
