Investigation Underway as Youth Detained in Suspicious Death of Widow in Hailakandi

In Hailakandi district, a 28-year-old youth named Biplab Roy, and neighbor of a 30-year-old widow, was apprehended by the police on Wednesday night concerning her ‘mysterious’ death in Rongpur. The officer in charge of Lala Police Station, Amphi Daulagupu, confirmed the ongoing interrogation of the youth and mentioned that the deceased woman’s body has been sent to SK Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi for a postmortem examination. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined, awaiting the results of the postmortem. Sources revealed that Biplab Roy, an auto driver, brought the unconscious body of the widow to Lala primary health centre, where she was declared dead by the attending doctors. The deceased widow had been residing with her two children at her in-laws’ house in Rongpur village, Part VI, since the demise of her husband eight years ago.
