Hatigaon Murder Case: Two More Arrested, Total Reaches Six in Property Dispute Killing

Hatigaon Police has made two additional arrests in connection with a murder that occurred in July last year, bringing the total number of arrests to six. The newly apprehended individuals, Sohidul Islam and Soriful Ali, were allegedly involved in the killing of Javed Ali Ahmed (75), a retired additional chief engineer in the irrigation department. The murder, which took place on July 27 at Friends Path in Hatigaon, was reported to be motivated by a property dispute.

Earlier arrests included Ainal Haque, Hasmat Miya, Mahibul Khan, and Nur Mahmad alias Boga, all from Barpeta. The suspects were arrested by Guwahati Police, and it was revealed that a relative of the deceased had purportedly orchestrated the murder, offering a payment of Rs 8 lakh to carry out the plan.
