Himanta Seeks Centre’s Urgent Intervention for Repair of NH-8 and NH-37 in Sribhumi

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to immediately repair and maintain NH-8 and NH-37 in Sribhumi district due to their severely damaged condition ahead of the monsoon.

In a letter sent on Friday, Sarma highlighted that the poor road conditions have caused major traffic congestion, safety risks, and difficulties in the movement of passengers and essential goods. He also noted the strategic importance of NH-37, which connects India and Bangladesh through the Sutarkandi Integrated Check Post.

The Chief Minister requested priority action from the Centre, while Patharkandi MLA Krishnendu Paul thanked him for taking up the issue for the benefit of people in Sribhumi and the Barak Valley region.
