IIT Guwahati Rises to 344th in QS World University Rankings 2025

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has achieved a significant milestone, securing the 344th position in the QS World University Rankings 2025. This marks a notable improvement, with the institute jumping 20 places from the previous year, and achieving an overall score of 32.9.

Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, praised the collective efforts of the faculty, students, and staff, attributing the advancement to their dedication and hard work. He emphasized the institute’s ongoing commitment to excellence in education, research, and innovation, and highlighted the need for greater internationalisation to further enhance global rankings.

Since 2014, IIT Guwahati has climbed 257 places in the QS rankings, with its strongest performance in Research Citations per Faculty, ranking 42nd globally. The institute also holds positions of 295th in Employer Reputation and 480th in Academic Reputation. The QS World University Rankings, a benchmark since 2004, evaluated 5,663 institutions worldwide this year, ranking 1,503 of them, including 46 from India. IIT Guwahati’s presence in 18 subject categories highlights its multidisciplinary strengths.
